About Albufera Natural Reserve
The Albufera Natural Park is an ancient bay located south of Valencia, which evolved to finally become a lake in Roman times. It is the largest lake in Spain with an area of 24 km². In addition, La Albufera is surrounded by 223 km² of rice fields. All its extension is an obligatory step for lots of migratory birds and home to some species in danger of extinction.
The lake is separated from the sea by restinga of sand and a forest of pines called Dehesa del Saler. La Albufera is one of the most protected places in the Valencian community, but also a favorite place to eat paella and enjoy the beautiful Valencian beaches.
The original surface of La Albufera was about 30,000 hectares, but after many years, human action has reduced its current surface to 2,800 hectares.
A professionals team work every day in the recovery and protection of the Albufera Natural Park, mainly from the direction of the park and the Albufera Protection Center. This natural area is one of the treasures of the Valencian Community due to its high natural and scenic value.

Über den Albufera Naturpark
Der Albufera Naturpark ist eine alte Bucht südlich von Valencia, die sich zu römischen Zeiten zu einem See entwickelte. Es ist der größte See in Spanien mit einer Fläche von 24 km². Außerdem ist “La Albufera” von 223 km² Reisfeldern umgeben. Alle seine Ausdehnung ist ein wichtiger Halt für Gruppen von Zugvögeln und die Heimat einiger vom Aussterben bedrohter Arten.
Der See ist durch einen Kiefernwald namens “Dehesa del Saler” vom Meer getrennt. “Albufera” ist einer der am meisten geschützten Orte in der valencianischen Gemeinde, aber auch ein beliebter Ort zum Essen und Genießen schöner valencianischen Strände.
Die ursprüngliche Fläche der Albufera betrug etwa 30.000 Hektar, aber nach vielen Jahren wurde ihre Fläche auf 2.800 Hektar reduziert.

Le parc naturel de l'Albufera est une ancienne baie située au sud de
Valence, qui a évolué pour devenir un lac à l'époque romaine. C'est le
plus grand lac d'Espagne avec une superficie de 24 km². De plus,
L'Albufera est entourée de 223 km² de rizières. Toute son extension
est une étape obligatoire pour quantité d'oiseaux migrateurs et c'est
un habitat naturel pour certaines espèces en danger d'extinction.
Le lac est séparé de la mer par une langue de sable et une forêt de
pins qui donnent son nom de "Dehesa del Saler". La Albufera est l’un
des endroits les plus protégés de la communauté valencienne, mais
également l'endroit de prédilection pour manger une excellente paella
et profiter des vastes plages valenciennes.
La surface initiale de La Albufera était d'environ 30 000 ha, mais
avec le temps, l'intervention de l'homme a réduit sa superficie
actuelle à 2 800 ha.
Une équipe de professionnels travaille chaque jour à la récupération
et à la protection du parc naturel de L'Albufera, principalement la
direction du parc et le Centre d'interprétation de l'Albufera. Cet
espace naturel est l’un des trésors de la Communauté valencienne pour
sa grande valeur naturelle et paysagère
